This is a short road trip report from Elizabeth. I have had a fantastic week on the lower mainland and interior helping a wonderful group of Green candidates. I totally support the leader's decision to concentrate on winning her seat in Toronto-Centre. Bear in mind, I was leader for five years before our breakthrough win in Saanich-Gulf Islands. On Thursday, we had a fantastic press conference on Kitsilano Beach emphasizing the climate championship running in and around Vancouver. I was joined by: Since last Sunday, I attended events, including the International Overdose Awareness Day, with the wonderful candidate for Kamloops Thompson Cariboo, lawyer Iain Currie. Also, I participated in events with GPC candidate Nicole Bellay, Mission-Matsqui-Fraser-Canyon, the riding containing the burnt out shell of Lytton. As well, we helped campaign launches and fundraisers for Mike Simpson and Devyani Singh. I have to admit a strong personal reason for loving this week - I got to spend a lot of time with my husband John Kidder, as he drove me all over the place, including checking in on his beautiful farm in Ashcroft. Of course, John was the 2019 candidate in Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon. The many campaign stops for Nicole were like old home week. Heading home soon!! See you at the Saanich Fair!! While Elizabeth has been able to support a number of Green candidates on the Mainland, she also wants to highlight the great Green candidate running in Fredericton, NB. Nicole O'Byrne is in a very tight race and could benefit from some donations to her campaign. To donate, click on GPC Fredericton or make a cheque to: Gregory Ericson, Official Agent for Nicole O'Byrne, and mail to 175 Southampton Drive, Fredericton, NB E3B 4T5. After submitting her candidate papers, Elizabeth, and, Marlene Wells, Elizabeth's campaign manager, spoke with the Elections Canada Returning Officer. He explained that there will be several changes that are being made in order to follow Covid procedures during this unnecessary snap election. One key change is the reduction of advance poll locations as well as potential changes to polling locations. Please check your Elections Canada voter information card for your voting locations if you are planning to vote on Advance Polls or on Election Day. This election is happening during the 4th wave of the pandemic. With the Covid restrictions, we recommend that you make a plan on how you wish to vote. There are four different ways that you can vote. Each method has specific processes and deadlines and potential changes. Check Elections Canada website for full details. YOU CAN VOTE RIGHT NOW at the Saanich-Gulf Islands (SGI) Elections Canada Office at Mary Winspear, 2243 Beacon Avenue, Sidney, BC. Vote before Tuesday, September 14, 6:00pm. The Elections Canada office is open 7 days a week from: Monday to Friday, 9am to 9pm VOTE by Advance Polls: Voting dates are September 10, 11, 12, and 13. If you choose to vote during advance polling days, you must vote at your assigned polling station. With the challenges of the pandemic, Elections Canada has reduced the number of advance poll locations. To find your advance polling location, check your voter information card or use the Voter Information Service on the Elections Canada website. The rules for voting on election day in the federal election differ from those in a British Columbia provincial election. You cannot vote at any polling location in the province in the federal election. If you choose to vote on election day, you must vote at your assigned polling station. We hope this helps you understand your voting options! If you have any questions, go to Elections Canada website or you can call Elections Canada, toll-free phone: 1 866 546-7620.
